Engineering as decor

A shock absorber that absorbs nothing and lights everything.

Coil, The coil
01

The coil

The yellow spring glows from a lit core running through it, so the whole suspension assembly reads as the lamp, not just the head.

Coil, The head
02

The head

The spotlight cylinder pivots on its mount like a real damper linkage. Aim it at the keyboard, the wall, or the model shelf.

Coil, Shop-built feel
03

Shop-built feel

3D-printed and hand-assembled, with the print grain left visible up close. It looks fabricated, because it is.

Questions

Good to know before you equip.

Is it a real shock absorber?

No. It is a lamp built in the shape of one, 3D-printed in PLA with the spring, damper body and linkage modeled in. The coil glows and the head lights; nothing here bolts to a swingarm.

Why can I see print lines on it?

Because it is genuinely 3D-printed and hand-finished, not injection-molded by the hundred thousand. The grain is the point: it reads as a fabricated part, and no two come out identical.

Does the head move?

Yes. The spotlight cylinder pivots on its mount so you can aim the beam at the desk, a shelf, or the wall.

How does it power?

From the included DC adapter. No batteries to feed, no USB port hunting.

How big is it?

It stands at desk-lamp scale and weighs just over a pound. Exact dimensions are being confirmed with the maker and will be listed here.

Is it bright enough to work by?

The pivoting head throws a focused warm spot that covers a keyboard and notepad. Treat it as task-plus-personality rather than a room light.

Who is this for?

The rider, the wrencher, the F1 watcher, the engineer whose desk already has one model too many. It is the gift that actually gets used.
