The short spec sheet

A slat-mesh back, a floating headrest, and one decision to make about the base.

Scala, The slat back
01

The slat back

Horizontal mesh bands span a 73 cm high-back frame. Air moves through it, and the banded look keeps the chair from reading as a black monolith behind a desk.

Scala, The floating headrest
02

The floating headrest

A 24 by 14 cm oval panel rides a curved arm above the backrest, so it meets your head where the frame ends instead of stopping short.

Scala, Chrome or nylon
03

Chrome or nylon

The five-star base comes in chrome steel or black nylon. Same chair up top, different seat height range below: 40 to 50 cm on chrome, 36 to 46 cm on nylon.

3 finishes

Which one is yours

A swatch tells you the colour. This tells you the room it belongs in.

The full lineup, side by side. Every finish below is shot in the room it belongs in.
Scala in Black, in a workspace

Scala in Black

The one you do not have to think about

Black recedes into a desk and lets the work be the loudest thing on it. It is the finish that photographs cleanly on a call, holds up against every wood tone, and is almost never the decision anyone regrets.

Scala in Blue, in a workspace

Scala in Blue

Quiet, and the closest to ours

Blue holds its own without asking for attention, which is why it is the one that looks intentional behind you on a video call. Deep enough to anchor a desk, calm enough to sit there all day.

Scala in Gray, in a workspace

Scala in Gray

Neutral, without going invisible

Gray is the one that survives a room changing around it. It holds its shape against warm wood and cool metal alike, so it still looks right after the desk, the chair and the wall color have all been replaced.

Questions

Good to know before you equip.

What is the difference between the chrome and nylon base?

Seat height, mostly. The chrome steel base runs 40 to 50 cm at the seat, the black nylon base runs 36 to 46 cm. Both are five-star bases under the same chair, so pick by your desk height and by whether you want polished metal or matte black at floor level.

Is this a true high-back chair?

Yes. The slat-mesh backrest is 73 cm tall on its own, and the oval headrest floats above that on a curved arm, so the chair covers the full seated back plus head.

Do the armrests adjust?

No. They are fixed loop armrests, closed rings with no levers. Nothing to adjust also means nothing to slip or rattle, which is the honest trade at this price.

What is the floating headrest?

A 24 by 14 cm oval panel held above the backrest on a curved arm rather than bolted flat to the frame. It sits where the back of your head lands when you lean into the chair.

What are the seat and back made of?

The backrest is mesh fabric laid in horizontal slats, so air moves through it. The seat is sponge over the frame, a firm flat platform rather than a deep cushion.

How exact are the measurements?

All dimensions are measured by hand at the factory, so allow 1 to 3 cm of tolerance on any figure. The seat height ranges of 36 to 46 cm on nylon and 40 to 50 cm on chrome are the working numbers to plan a desk around.

Can I order these for a whole office?

Yes, and the pricing is built for it. One chair is $299.95, two or more drop to $269.95 each, three or more to $252.95, and five or more to $239.95. Larger volumes are quoted on request.
