Light for the page, not the room

A rotating 3W LED head with a 30 degree beam. It lights what you point it at and spares everything else.

Lector, The beam
01

The beam

A 30 degree focused beam puts warm light on a page, a keyboard, or a task, without washing the wall or waking the room. Coverage suits a 3 to 8 square meter zone.

Lector, The rotation
02

The rotation

The cylinder head swivels on its mount, so you steer the light instead of leaning into it. Aim it down at a book or across at a headboard shelf.

Lector, The plate
03

The plate

A slim 17.8 by 5 cm backplate with its own push button. The body sits into the wall for a built-in look, and the switch lands where your hand already is.

3 finishes

Which one is yours

A swatch tells you the colour. This tells you the room it belongs in.

Lector in Black, in a workspace

Lector in Black

The one you do not have to think about

Black recedes into a desk and lets the work be the loudest thing on it. It is the finish that photographs cleanly on a call, holds up against every wood tone, and is almost never the decision anyone regrets.

Lector in Black & Gold, in a workspace

Lector in Black & Gold

Warmth, in a deliberately small dose

Gold works on the light a room already has rather than adding any of its own. Keep it to one piece per surface and it reads considered. Put three on the same desk and it reads like a showroom.

Lector in Sand Nickel, in a workspace

Lector in Sand Nickel

Machined, not decorated

Silver belongs on a desk that is already laptop, glass and metal. It keeps company with the hardware instead of competing with it, which is why it is the safe answer for a setup you did not design so much as accumulate.

Questions

Good to know before you equip.

How focused is the beam?

The lens throws a 30 degree beam. At bedside distance that is a page and the hands holding it, not the wall behind you. It is designed so one person can read while the room stays dark.

Does the head really rotate?

Yes. The cylinder head swivels on its mount so you can steer the beam down to a book, across to a shelf, or out over a desk edge, without remounting anything.

How do I switch it on?

A push button sits on the backplate itself, at hand height from a bed or chair. It also works from a standard wall switch if you wire it into a switched circuit.

What are the three finishes?

All black, black plate with a brass tone tube, and sand nickel. All three are the same steel and aluminum build and the same warm beam.

What does recessed installation mean here?

The lamp body is designed to sit into the wall so the plate finishes flush, the built-in look you see in hotel headboards. Ask your electrician to check wall depth at the mounting point before installation.

How big is the fixture?

The backplate is 17.8 cm tall and 5 cm wide, about the footprint of a light switch column, with the rotating head projecting from it. The whole unit weighs about a kilogram.

Does it suit shared rooms and dorms?

It was practically designed for them. A focused beam, a 3W draw, and a switch at arm's length make it the roommate-proof reading light, and volume pricing applies from the second unit.
